Tutorial mode is a game mode in Aura-Aura Climber. Tutorial mode has one level, which contains instructions on the basic movements of Aura-Aura, as well as the only cutscene in the entire game. While no enemies or power-ups are present in the level, it is possible to die from fall damage. Once the goal is reached at the top of the level, Tutorial mode is completed, and Score Attack and Endless can be played. Tutorial mode can be revisited and replayed at anytime.

In-Game Instructions Edit

Tutorial mode is most well known for its pop up text boxes that help the player understand how the game plays. Each text box pops up next to a cloud bubble, which shows what buttons to press, and contains instructions on a specific tactic in the game. There are three instruction text boxes that will pop up every time Tutorial is played

Tutorial Edit

"This is the tutorial where you will learn the basics for how to help Aura-Aura climb up into the sky!"

  • Pops up when Tutorial is started, after the cutscene

Release Edit

"Press down on the Directional Pad with A or B to release from a grapple point."

  • Pops up next to the cloud bubble containing a Directional Pad with the Down Button blinking and an A Button blinking

Skilled Grapple Edit

"Aura-Aura will flash at the peak of his jump. If you A or B at that moment, his grapple arm will reach extra far!"

  • Pops up next to the cloud bubble with the blinking A Button that is under the cloud bubble with the blinking A Button above a down-swooping arrow

There are also additional instructions that will appear if Aura-Aura stays grappled to a grappling point next to a cloud bubble for about 20 seconds

Jump and Grapple Edit

"Press A or B to jump up into the air. Press it again while in the air to use the grapple arm to scale the sky!"

  • Pops up if Aura-Aura stays grappled to the grappling point that is next to the first cloud bubble that appears, containing a blinking A Button

Sideways Jump Edit

"You can aim Aura-Aura's jump while holding on to a grapple point. Press left or right on the Directional Pad to aim, then jump!"

  • Pops up if Aura-Aura stays grappled to the grappling point that is next to the cloud bubble containing a Directional Pad with the Right Button blinking and an A Button Blinking, or if Aura-Aura stays grappled to the grappling point that is next to the cloud bubble containing a Directional Pad with the Left Button blinking and an A Button Blinking

Diagonal Jump Edit

"You can make angled jumps to reach distant grapple points. Use the Directional Pad while in the air to steer Aura-Aura diagonally."

  • Pops up if Aura-Aura stays grappled to the grappling point that is next to the cloud bubble containing a Directional Pad with the Right Button blinking and the Up Button blinking, and an A Button Blinking, or if Aura-Aura stays grappled to the grappling point that is next to the cloud bubble containing a Directional Pad with the Left Button blinking and the Up Button blinking, and an A Button blinking

Screen Scrolling Edit

"Press the Directional Pad while holding X to look around. Use this feature to find hidden paths!"

  • Pops up if Aura-Aura stays grappled to the grappling point that is next to the cloud bubble containing a blinking X Button

If Aura-Aura dies from fall damage, another text box pops up.

Falling Edit

"Aura-Aura can't survive a long fall..."

Cutscene Edit

The only cutscene present in the entirety of Aura-Aura Climber is found at the beginning of Tutorial. It consists of a meteor (that is assumed to contain Aura-Aura) that is shown falling out of the sky and crashing into the earth. Tutorial then starts, with Aura-Aura sitting in a crater where the meteor crashed. This is also how Aura-Aura starts in Level 1 or Score Attack and the beginning of Endless.
